Our beach cabin is located near the little town of Tokeland on the northernmost shore of Willapa Bay on the Washington coast. It’s foundation was poured in the summer of 1998 and it was declared substantially complete by my family in 2001. Under it broad and sheltering roof is housed an open “great room” plan cabin, with one bedroom and bath, a mud entry and laundry, two deep front and rear porches, and a large open sleeping loft tucked up into its rafters. It is a perfect weekend getaway cabin for entertaining large or small gatherings of friends and family.

This project was done for the most difficult of clients any young architect can design for…their own family. Everybody’s got an opinion! Sheesh. All kidding aside, this a favorite project of mine because I and my whole family labored long in building it ourselves. A very satisfying achievement for any architect.
