The primary goal of this project was to add a new detached art studio on a very narrow site. The existing house and pool purchased by my dear friends and clients, also needed a bit of a modern face lift. The only logical spot to place the new studio building was along narrow strip of land between the east side of the pool, and the east property line. The area was so narrow that the west foundation of the studio, is also the eastern side of the pool. Brilliant blue/purple/green iridescent tile wainscoting seamlessly blends the studio building into the pool. Large western windows in the studio look across the pool and deck, to the lovely views of Puget Sound. The access from the upper house deck to the lower pool deck was also reimagined, and a new cantilevered stair over the poll below, was built to add some drama to the design. My clients then selected a bold aubergine color palette for both the house and studio to unify the entire complex. I have attended many fun and fabulous summer pool parties here, since the project was completed in 2018.
